Performance Review presents Performing Care, a performance program of three new commissions by Georgia Banks, Arini Byng and Kori Miles.
Performing Care is a project that asks how do we care for performance in the visual arts? Taking this as a starting point, Performing Care structurally attempts to do something that should not be considered radical, and yet is. It treats performance in a comparable way to other artistic practices.
The artists in Performing Care were commissioned to create new works responding to the above provocation. They were paid development and performance fees that exceed NAVA’s current standards for performance; were deferred to and allowed to lead process and were treated as being experts on their practices, lived experiences and needs. All the key decisions in this project were made collaboratively and with full transparency.
This project has been supported by a ³Ô¹ÏÍø Annual Arts Grant.
